Popular Shows of San Francisco

When visiting San Francisco, finding a way to unwind at the end of a long day of sight seeing isn’t always the easiest thing in the world to do. After dinner the choices for entertainment often seem limited because you don’t really want to become too wired from your activities to find peaceful sleep later. Perhaps this is why most shows are shown in the evening. San Francisco certainly has quite a few options for shows to see.

If you like old musicals, then 42nd Street Moon is a great place for you to look for your entertainment. They like to take old Broadway musicals that haven’t been over performed and rehash them to the delight of the audience and the cast. By breathing new life into these sometimes lost classics they are doing a service to both the original masters of these musicals and to the audiences they now play for.

If you need something a little less rowdy and rambunctious to see you into your night time routine, then perhaps the Smuin Ballet will have something that is more in line with your needs. This ballet company is bringing new appreciation to the art of dance and delighting audiences in the process. By bridging the gap between traditional ballet and modern dance this company is reaching a much broader audience than many dance troupes that have come before and since. Really and truly if you have the opportunity to see one of their performances I highly recommend that you do so. You just might find that you are their newest fan.

If you have varied or eclectic tastes, then Old First Concerts may be a great place for you to unwind after a long day of shopping, sight seeing, and touring wine country. This interesting venue presents concerts of many colors and voices it would seem. There is no one particular style of music that is allowed or disallowed here, rather the professional quality of the musical style is more important than the actual style of the music. I think that this very fact alone makes it quite unique and worth a listen. You might hear something you’ve never heard before and leave with an appreciation you would have never discovered had you not dropped in.

If you haven’t guessed, I’m a huge fan of trying things that are different and slightly outside the realm of the mundane. I have no problems stepping away from the conventions of normal society and wearing many different hats. Perhaps that is the reason that I find my next suggestion so appealing and fun! Beach Blanket Babylon is the perfect way to mock societal norms. The costumes are outrageous and the hats are bigger than a tall tale and it’s all in the name of good clean fun. I seriously recommend this show to anyone who has ever had even the slightest hint of a sense of humor.

We all know that it is often difficult to unwind in a new city where you only know those that you are traveling with, you aren’t sleeping in your own bed, and you are missing some of the comforts of home (like a work day and a commute to exhaust you). For those of us who have been there and done that, it is much easier to unwind after enjoying a nice show or entertainment along similar lines. It could be something as simple as taking in a movie that you might have wanted to see but never find the time to at home. A vacation is your time to rest and relax, make the most of it.

Healthy Recipes – Functional Food and Healthy Recipes – Do You Know Them?

Welcome again. This time I would continue the topic of healthy recipes and food. In my previous articles I was writing about many different topics connected with cooking, eating or even storing food. This topic will be very important for people who prefer healthy lifestyle and healthy eating. I would like to provide you information about functional food. Read this article to the end and you will know what is it.

So let’s start. I would like to give you some kind of definition of a functional food. It’s a kind of food that of course have to feed people, but apart from that it have to influence human organism (for example it can reduce cholesterol level in blood, strengthen hardiness of human body, it can remove problems connected with digestive tract and it can heal people or help with healing). Func. food can be an element of everyday diet (there are many healthy recipes that include func. food). So any tablets or any other pharmaceutical products are not included in group of func. food. It should be a product made from natural ingredients that can make people more healthy.

The functional food ingredients are products with high level of such ingredients as: fatty acid, food cellulose, vitamins, probiotics, prebiotics and products with low level of such ingredients as: cholesterol or calories.

Functional food and healthy recipes connected with it are very popular in west Europe and in United States of America, but the lider in production of such food is Japan. In this country healthy recipes and functional food are the most popular (people in Japan were working on it about 30 years ago).

That’s all I wanted to write about healthy recipes and healthy functional food. I hope that this kind of food will be very popular in Poland and other countries in which they aren’t important. I believe that this kind of food will improve health of people in the whole world.

Thank you for reading this text. I hope that information included in it are interesting. I believe that they will be helpful and important for you now or in the future. The Rocket’s Red Glare May Be Chinese

Wearing a pith helmet and brandishing a blunderbuss, Marshbaum burst into my office and ordered me to the floor. I looked at my faux friend and media foil, about to ask him what his latest scheme was. With Marshbaum, who was fed “Honeymooners” episodes by IV when he was a child, everything is a scheme to make money. But, in the fraction of time I had before he yelled for me to get under my desk and cover my head, I quickly determined he was serious.

“We’re at war!” he shouted, hyper-kinetically upset.

“Of course we’re at war,” I said. “Bush diverted resources from Afghanistan to invade Iraq. Been at war five years.”

“Not that war,” said Marshbaum. “This is bigger. China invaded our homeland. We’re under attack. And thanks to a 5-4 decision by the Supremes, me and Ole Betsy will defend my home from the Commie invaders.”

“You been watching too many recycled Cold War films?” I asked. “China is our trading partner. They loaned us billions to reduce our exorbitant unbalanced budget. Their factories are producing goods for the American consumer almost as fast as Washington politicians have been producing verbal diarrhea.”

“The Chinese have launched rockets at us. We don’t have much time.”

“I didn’t see anything on the 24/7 news channels about an invasion.”

“Of course not,” said Marshbaum, “they’re too busy tracking celebrity weddings, break-ups, and drunk driving arrests.”

“Even the worst journalist would pick up on an invasion of the U.S,” I said.

“Yeah,” he replied sarcastically, “like they picked up on the PATRIOT Act violating a half-dozen constitutional amendments? Like they figured out the Bush-Cheney Oil and Screw Corp. lied to them about Iraq, the environment, the housing crisis, the economy, and how to make barbecued burritos?”

“But war with China?” I asked skeptically.

“China!” he said authoritatively. “Largest Communist country in the world. More than a billion people. Largest Army in the world. While the politicians focused on being nasty to Cuba, which has only 11 million people and hardly any weapons, the Chinese have been getting ready to invade us. It’s been a sneak attack that started years ago. Some of the best students in American colleges are Chinese. They’re the cadre for the take-over, and it’s less than a week away!”

“I assume you have evidence,” I asked, playing along with Marshbaum. After all, I had no idea how deadly a blunderbuss could be, especially if I was in the same room with one.

“Tents,” said Marshbaum. “Thousands of tents have been set up the past two weeks on every major road in America. They’re ammunition depots. Come July Fourth, the Chinese students will stop getting perfect scores on their SATs, join their comrades from all the Chinese buffets, go to the tents, activate the weapons and blow us all sky high with Roman Candles and Multi-break Shells. Dahlias, Willows, and Rings. An arsenal of destruction!”

“They’re fireworks!” I told my naive friend. “Fireworks! Jefferson, Madison, and the patriots started the revolution so we could eat hotdogs and potato salad, then shoot off a color spectacular and get a three-day weekend.”

“For a journalist, you’re even denser than I thought.” And so he walked me through his logic. “Ninety-Eight percent of all fireworks we use for July Fourth are made in China.”

“I see no evidence of war here,” I said. “The Chinese also supply most of our toys and just about anything that winds up at the Dollar Store.”

“Do you think the largest army in the world would be content to stay in Asia and eat sushi all day?” I disregarded the anomaly that sushi is a Japanese dish, but when Marshbaum is on a roll it’s hard to divert him with logic. “Come July Fourth, they’re going to shock and awe us with their fireworks, play a Tchaikovsky overture, and then take over the rest of America.”

“The Olympics are only about five weeks away,” I reminded him, “why would the Chinese attack us when it’s hosting the leading display for unity and peace?”

“Because they need more emaciated squeaky-voiced gymnasts,” he said, “and we’ll be so grateful to get rid of them and those snooty equestrians as well that we’ll wave flags to honor China.”

“Americans are going to wave Chinese flags? That’s ridiculous!”

“American flags,” said Marshbaum. “Most flags and flag pins-you know the ones the semi-patriotic American politicians always wear-are made in China.” Marshbaum thought a moment. “Maybe their Army won’t need to invade us. They’ve already defeated us.”

Traditional Chinese Medicine For MS

Perhaps looking to Western medicine for MS is not the only answer when it comes to the treatment for those afflicted. Many people are instead turning to Traditional Chinese Medicine instead as a way to find relief from the symptoms of multiple sclerosis. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) believes that the roots of most diseases are affected by many factors including behavioral, spiritual, emotional, climatic and dietary habits.

The TCM approach to medicine for MS is to adjust environmental and human influences through changes in lifestyle, the use of traditional herbal medicines and physical therapy. In TCM the doctrine holds that all ingested substances have a direct effect on the body. This means that diet is adjusted to maintain the body’s balance by the way food is prepared and by the choices of foods.  In the traditional mindset all foods, herbs and medicines are considered part of the same subject when it comes to health.

Chinese medical doctrines believe that diseases like multiple sclerosis stem from an imbalance of spiritual and emotional factors. They think that the disease may lie dormant until it is trigger by an event such as an infectious disease. The theory is that the body is weakened by emotional or spiritual stress and thus more susceptible to contracting MS. Medicine for this is best described as putting your emotional and spiritual house in order. Meditation and talking with ones elders to resolve stressful issues is seen as the best treatment for this.

The Chinese like the West use the introduction into the body of a “medicine” for MS as a way to treat the symptoms. The only difference is that in the West various drugs are used that tend to create some very unpleasant side effects, whereas the Chinese solution is to use a mixture of herbs to achieve similar results. Tests conducted show that the Chinese have achieved remarkable success using a combination of herbs, acupuncture and other forms of traditional medicines in reducing the number of exacerbations experienced in large numbers of multiple sclerosis patients. It has been noted that these remedies or treatments may also help to relieve many other health problems along the way.

I have benefited greatly from a book which has examined the link between what we eat and multiple sclerosis. If you would like to know what foods are attacking your body, what supplements you must take and how to create the energy that you need, then this book is a must read. Reverse Multiple Sclerosis
