Movers Milwaukee

If you are moving within your local area, it may be more tempting to rent a truck and try to do the job yourself. But the fact is, that except for the mileage, the work involved in a local move is every bit as intensive as that involved in a cross-country move.

You will want to do your research, and select the very best movers. Milwaukee area residents can choose MyLocalMovers.com, a professional company who will be ready when you are for your local move.

You’ll want to pack all your own shampoos, soaps, household chemicals and cleaning supplies yourself. In a separate area, pack the food you will be taking along. Other than these items, leave most of the packing for the movers, if you’re doing a full-service move, so that they can pack to their standards to insure no breakage.

When moving day comes, you should have someone at your old home to supervise the packing and loading, and someone at your new home to make sure everything is unloaded carefully and placed in proper rooms. If you hire a reputable moving company, you can leave all the lifting work to the Movers Milwaukee is a large town, and just moving from one neighborhood to another may seem like a longer move.

You might wish to have your valuables appraised before you move. You can also take jewelry items with you when you are moving, to avoid loss. Big-screen TV’s and other breakable items should be appraised so that you know how much they are worth.

Moving can be very stressful, so the more thought you put into it in advance, the easier it will be on everyone involved. It’s helpful if you’re moving locally to find companies in that area. Milwaukee area movers are more acquainted with the city’s different areas than would an outside moving company be.

If you can schedule your move at a time other than the end of the month, that will be more helpful to you and your moving company. They are usually stretched a bit tighter as far as laborers go, near month’s end. The company will be able to send their top workers if you schedule your move for a time other than the end of a month.

Be sure you have everything ready to go that you need to ready yourself, before the movers arrive. If they have stipulated that they will need to pack breakables in order for their insurance to cover them, then leave those items in plain view.

When you arrive at your new location and the moving men are unloading, your time is best spent inside the front door, directing the movers to the rooms where things belong. Don’t succumb to the urge to begin unpacking at this early stage. Help your movers put things in the right place there is plenty of time later for unpacking.

Texas Food Handlers and Certifications

There many different kinds of Texas food handlers who all work in different kinds of businesses or non-profit organizations. However, the one thing they all have in common is that they have a Texas food handlers certification or card. This certification allows them to work in restaurants, daycares, schools, or any other place of business that will distribute food. That is why it is recommended for to receive your certification. You will be able to find more work, easier.

Getting a food handling license will allow you to further your career much quicker than anything else in the food industry. A valid food handlers certificate is a very important tool for Texas food handlers because health departments and organizations-government operated and private-will all require the proper certification for a business to remain in operation. Certification courses will cover all of the important subjects that health departments will expect you know. These subjects include such things as the prevention of foodborne illnesses, proper food storage, cleanliness, and general food handling. Depending on your chosen program of study, you will likely see other subjects as well.

In order for you to be one of many Texas food handlers, you will need to complete a certification program. With many different courses and programs offered online it will not be difficult for you to find the best program for you and your schedule. The affordability, flexibility, and swiftness of these online programs make them a very popular avenue for Texas food handlers to become certified. Furthermore, by getting your certification you will be able to make yourself a much more viable candidate for job positions and career promotions.

Texas food handlers are competent and knowledgeable in their work. By taking the time to carefully go through the program you will be setting yourself up for success. Health departments and organizations will expect you to know and understand each and every policy concerning food handling. The certification is simply proof that you do. However, the certification does not protect you from negligence charges and so it is very important that you understand the ins and outs of what you are learning.

If you are looking for a program to work with many employers and health departments will have a list of recommended programs that offer high quality certifications and education. Online courses will cover all of the necessary subjects you will need to know but if you truly prefer the traditional classroom setting there are classes offered like that.

Food handlers ultimately need certification to stay in business. Because of the wide variety of programs you can pick and choose from, you should have little difficulty finding the program that best fits your needs and interests. However, most importantly, these certifications will open doors for you that would otherwise be closed.

Music in Milwaukee

Music in Milwaukee is ailed by a lack of defined identity.  It is not simply that any mention of the Milwaukee music scene doesn’t cause any particular sound to come to mind.  It is that there really does not seem to be a group that captures the spirit of Milwaukee, a local group whose sound is unquestionably and uncompromisingly the audio portrait of the Thrillwaukee experience.

That seems to have been the case before The Pushers came to be.  Their direct interpretation of the Great Lakes blues tradition is honest, pulls no punches, and is equally fitting as theme music for a killer party in Bay View as it is seeping out the stereo on a lazy suburban day.  The music is pulsating with power, but it does not blatantly unleash it – Rather, it simmers underneath the a misleadingly calm and low key exterior.  There is something in there that a Brew City native instinctively understands.

The songs’ themes are inclined to to center around on mundane topic, but in a meaningful manner.  The band’s smash hit, and go-to hard-rocker ‘Heartbreaker’ combines blues slide playing and hard rock rock’n’roll to relate the musings of a notorious ladies’ man whose ability to make the ladies head-over-heels fall in love with him is at once a gift and a curse – the audience can’t tell if the protagonist is boasting or expressing regret as he describes the ever shifting lineup of women whose temporary obsession makes him forget that in spite of all appearances, he is painfully alone.

Principally contributing to the framework of The Pushers’ sound is Rogers’s guitar playing.  It is both  phenomenal yet low-profile – he slings catchy guitar licks and fiery solos alike with the identical purposeful subtlety, all under frontman Cooper’s defiant growl.  The singer, whose presence does not limit itself to just being the ideal representation of the everyman protagonist portrayed in the lyrics, wields a blues harp.  Not only does merely including a harmonica set The Pushers  apart from fellow regional heavy groups, the manner in which it maniacally scorches along with the guitar destroys any similarity to blues groups also.  The Pushers churn out tunes that are completely unrelated to other music in Milwaukee.

The rhythm section, bass player Blackburn and skinsman Cejka bite into seething slow mosh grooves, thunder out attention-grabbing breaks, and simply speed along, all without a hiccup or hesitation.  They build the type of backdrop that is often absent in the majority of of modern actual heavy music: rhythm that inspires people to actually want to get up and DANCE.  The popularity of a lot of music in Milwaukee is usually related to an act’s capacity to keep the bar and event hordes content, and The Pushers manage it without losing any of their integrity.  That is because their music so faultlessly captures the experience here, both the good times and the bad.

If you are searching for a perfect example of music in Milwaukee, look no further than The Pushers.  They’re the ones to watch over the coming years.

Texas Food Bank Soon to be Homeless

It was less than a year ago that disaster was narrowly averted for Harvesting International Ministry Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to feeding the poor in North Texas.  Last year their worn out freezers and coolers all failed, nearly shutting the food bank down.  Many people within the community rallied to the aid of the ministry with donations and residential-sized freezers.  But what really saved the day was when an angel by the name of Kysor Panel Systems delivered a miracle worth well in excess of $ 100,000 by donating all brand new commercial-sized refrigeration units.

Today the charity is facing an even bigger Goliath.  After more than a decade at their current location, they have lost their lease.  Without a large warehouse building in which to operate, there is no way the food bank can distribute the four to five million pounds of food a year to those desperately in need.  Every month this modest ministry gives away free groceries directly to hundreds of families and distributes food in bulk to more than 50 other churches and charities who in turn give it to families in need.  Ultimately this charity serves tens of thousands of individuals in dozens of counties across North Texas.

When you are in the business of feeding the poor, paying for commercial warehouse space in today’s market can be overwhelming.  Over the past decade their landlord has blessed them greatly by charging rent way under market value for the property. HIM Center and the current landlord have an excellent working relationship, and they are very grateful for the many years they have had.  However, the owner is in need of his property back so the charity is being forced to relocate by the end of June.

During the refrigeration crisis last year, Jim Costanza, Kysor’s director of field and team operations, asked HIM Center President, Gregory Dewbrew, “What would be your dream?”  Dewbrew responded by saying his dream would be to have all new refrigeration units for the ministry.  That seemed beyond the realm of financial possibility for this charity, but Kysor made that dream come true. Since then the ministry has been able to distribute more fresh and frozen food than ever before – miracles still happen and dreams still come true.

Now facing an even larger threat than before, the ministry is in desperate need of another miracle.  It would need a minimum of 10,000 square feet of commercial warehouse space — the same size space they’ve operated out of for the past decade.  Although the HIM Center has been increasing its distribution throughout all these years, it has not had the resources to increase its warehouse space accordingly.  It could easily fill twice or even three that size.

If you ask Dewbrew now what his dream for the charity would be, he would say it would be for the ministry to be able to acquire a building of its own so it won’t face having to shut down again.  “I want to find a home for the ministry,” Dewbrew said.  Commercial buildings in the area range anywhere from $ 500 thousand to $ 1.7 million, but without the help of the community, this charity couldn’t afford even a fraction of that.

HIM Center is staring Goliath in the face.  It has nowhere to go and no resources to purchase or lease what it needs. It will take at least a month to move the facility, so really they need a million-dollar miracle right now.  If it doesn’t find a solution by June 1st, the ministry will be forced to start the process of closing its doors.

It may take the efforts of many people coming together to rescue this worthy cause.  Or perhaps, once again, a champion will step forward.  Maybe a corporation or someone owning warehouse space would want to lease a building in the Mansfield, Kennedale, Arlington, Fort Worth area.  That would prevent a catastrophe and help thousands and thousands of North Texas families from going hungry.  Maybe this champion could actually kill Goliath and make the ministry’s dreams come true by donating property, or a portion of the property, to this 501-C3 corporation.  Then it would never have to face losing its home again.

If the HIM Center closes its doors, thousands of needy families throughout North Texas will be affected.  You can help by sending donations to HIM Center Building Fund, 560 Easy Street, Mansfield, TX  76063 or give on-line at himcenter.org.  For property information contact HIM Center President, Gregory Dewbrew (817) 453-3663,greg@himcenter.org.

Established in 1987, the Food Bank is a critical component to the welfare of North Texas, providing food to people in need, advocating for the hungry, and educating the public about hunger-related issues. Through a combination of programs and partnerships with more than 200 North Texas non-profit charities, the HIM Center Food Bank acts as a central repository and distribution point for donated food. Funded by foundations, grants, corporations, sponsors and individual donors, the HIM Center distributes more than 5 million pounds of food annually to individuals, families and a network of non-profit organizations that work to alleviate hunger throughout North Texas. Healthy Options in Chinese Food

Chomping down on Chinese food while watching the 2008 Summer Olympics at Beijing could seem like the ideal way to pay homage to the host country. Some Hakka Chow, Chilli Chicken, Schezwan Fried Rice and Veg Manchurian … fantastic deliciousness. But if you get on that diet, your body will look more like Mahesh Bhatt than Mahesh Bhupathi.

Nutrition analysis of Chinese dishes show that they are extremely high in calorific value, sodium content, high fat content and high in simple carbohydrates (which behave like sugar in your body). Many Chinese dishes are high on soy, which increases sodium content drastically in the food. Excess sodium leads to increase in blood pressure and retention of water, which increases your weight and makes you look bloated and fat.

So, whats a solution? Clearly, not eating Chinese food is a bad solution 🙂 But you can make healthy choices while ordering Chinese food.

Lets start with everyone’s favourite .. those little steamed eatables called Dim Sum- You think its healthy because its steamed. But Dim Sum is primarily made of maida (refined flour), which causes your blood sugar to spike (watch out diabetics) and promotes fat storage. For starters, go for stuff that’s stir fried, chicken satay, flavored veggies, or a clear soup with veggies and/or meat in it. Or you can skip the starters and go for the main course.

The main course is like a mine field of bad health bombs. Stir Fried dishes are good, since they are relatively low on sodium, are cooked fast and in lesser oil (since its not deep fried). Stay away from that Manchurian. First its wrapped in maida (refined flour), then its deep fried. Then its soaked in a high sodium sauce. Is there a better way to spell HEALTH D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R. Basically, stay away from anything that’s served as dough wrapped balls in sauce. All sauces, from Black Bean to Sweet and Sour are drowning in sodium. And some of them have loads of sugar added, like Sweet and Sour or Garlic.

For your starch options, there’s another mine field. The noodles are all made from refined flour and then they are soaked in oil and flavouring (including soy)- you know what that does, so stay away from it. The fried rice is a slightly better option, since its rice based, but again, lots of oil and soy, since rice soaks both of them fast! The best option is steamed rice. Besides, the relatively lower calories, it reduces your sodium intake. Also, it gives you a chance to really taste the flavour of the dishes. Try jasmine rice, it smells fantastic.

In dessert, I’m yet to find a true Chinese dessert. All the standard Indian versions of Chinese dessert are pretty unhealthy- darsaan (fried dough with sugar), sugar coated walnuts, fried ice-cream. Do I even need to get into why these aren’t good choices. Chinese joints aren’t known for their chocolate based delicacies. Stay off it, even its on the menu 🙂

Our advice, go for the fresh fruits for a light and a sweet finish. Don’t forget to get some of that green tea or jasmine tea. You know, green tea is good for you.

It takes some questioning the wait staff, to solve the health mystery of a new dish. But don’t be shy – eat this way while watching the Olympics and you’ll be 1 step closer to looking like Michael Phelps. Have you seen the 60 pack he’s got?
